Diebold - All Your Vote Are Belong to Us

Here’s another humorous spoof on Diebold that we whipped up for all you truth seekers out there….

Diebold Voting

This one is based on the popular internet meme, AYBABTU, or “All your base are belong to us”, a phrase taken from from Zero Wing, a Japanese video game by Toaplan.

Here’s the original video from which the “All Your Base” craze started…

The pranksters here at theAmericanLie.org thought a spoof was only appropriate. Feel free to comment !!

Boycott Paypal - Paypal Freezes New Hampshire Recount Funds

Boycott Paypal The future of a recount in New Hampshire’s Republican Primary is uncertain all because of the scumbags at PayPal, Inc. Paypal has frozen the fundraising account of the Granny Warriors, a Ron Paul supporters group who had been pushing for a recount in New Hampshire, causing a 3pm Tuesday deadline to be missed and the application rejected for lack of payment. This unprecedented act on Paypal’s part is a cause for alarm for all American citizens and constitutionalists. People who donated funds to the Granny Warriors are urged to contact the San Jose Better Business Bureau and file a complaint. Additionally, all voters are urged to contact Congresswoman Zoe Lofgren of California’s 16th District which serves San Jose and Silicon Valley about Paypal’s tampering with the Constitutional rights of voters in the State of New Hampshire. concerned voters are also urged to contact New Hampshire’s Governor John Lynch regarding this fraudulent action on Paypal’s part.

The had raised the necessary $55,600 deposit for the recount but at the last minute before it was transferred to the Secretary of State,
blocked access to the funds. No explanation has been forthcoming from Paypal as to why the corporation froze the account.

This is not the first time Paypal has been in a scandal of this nature. In 2005, Paypal froze the account of the popular Something Awful web community which is hosted in New Orleans, who’s readers had donated $27,695.41 to be sent to the Red Cross. The account was locked by PayPal, which launched an investigation into possible fraud. When asked to to donate the money directly from the account to the Red Cross, PayPal declined, saying it has an exclusive charity relationship with United Way of America (I think we all remember the united Way scandal). Contact the following people if you are outraged about Paypal’s actions. A full boycott is urged against Paypal Inc. until they release the funds. One person can make a difference and when a payment processor such as Paypal, that is not even licensed to operate in all 50 states, steps in and tries to hinder the pursuit of Democracy, they deserve more than to just get their hands slapped.

RIAA Sues Kazaa User and Wins $220K

The Lie:
The Recording Industry Association of American sued Jammie Thomas of Minnesota for allegedly sharing 1,702 songs through the Kazaa network. The RIAA claims millions of dollars of revenue are lost each year due to piracy through filesharing networks.

The Truth:
The recording industry is one of the scummiest and sleaziest businesses in the world. The claim musicians are losing money because people are sharing their songs (intellectual property) online. The truth is todays musicians are losing money because the majority of them are ignorant kids with little or no talent who are being scammed by the industry “pecking order”. For the most part, the pop music business of today is littered with flunkies from the urban ghettos who don’t know how to read on a third grade level much less read and comprehend a business contract. Today’s “stars” are only interested in the glitter and glamour of the game and fail to realize that they are the last link and the bottom feeders on the food chain. Following the money trail is easy, the artist (and I use that term loosely) managment takes the first cut of any profits, followed by the producer, that’s if there is any profit left after the record company, distribution company and retailers have taken their cut. This is all after paying for the production, manufacturing and packaging costs. In the Lisa Lopes documentary following the last days of her life, The Last Days of Left Eye, the former rapper who was a member of the group TLC explained how it was possible for a group to sell 31 million albums worldwide and still be broke.

Traditionally album sales are not a source of profit for the artists as much as they are for the record company. Touring and live performances help promote album sales but selling out shows helps put real money in the artists pockets. Merchandising such as selling t-shirts, posters and other memorabilia is another lucrative endeavour for the artists but in order to sell out shows and sell merchandise an artist has to have some sort of recognition gaind through promotion. In reality, people sharing files through peer to peer networks only increases an artists viability thus increasing the sources of true revenue for the artist but sadly, the record company and the slimebags associated with it are left out.

As the cost of manufacturing and packaging CD’s has dropped, the price of CD’s has risen. At a recent Nine Inch Nails concert (video here), frontman Trent Reznor said to fans: “Has anyone seen the price come down? Okay, well, you know what that means - STEAL IT. Steal away. Steal and steal and steal some more and give it to all your friends and keep on stealin’. Because one way or another these motherfuckers will get it through their head that they’re ripping people off and that that’s not right.”
