I think it’s safe to say that everybody in America has heard quite enough about “Joe the Plumber”, the supposedly hard working (yet unlicensed) plumber from Ohio who is the rallying cry for McCain and Palin’s allegations that Barack Obama is a socialist.
We’ve all watched as McCain and Plain mercilessly tossed Joe into the ring. Then we’ve listened to the Republican pundits whining and crying how the media and bloggers are treating Joe “the ordinary citizen” unfairly.
You need not feel sorry for Joe, because he is now the beneficiary of public assistance, courtesy of the Obama campaign. While he didn’t exactly get the money directly from Obama, he got it as a result of his interaction Obama. Joe, who would actually benefit from Obama’s tax plan, is now the recipient of public assistance and media welfare which will help him pay off those nasty taxes he was avoiding and get that plumber’s license he needs to work legally.
Does this mean that Joe the Plumber is just another welfare beggar and the official poster-boy for Republican tax assisstance?
The Wall Street Journal published article today about how “hard working” Joe the Plumber is taking a handout from two radio show hosts. The duo even went so far as to start a website (www.savejoetheplumber.net) to save the helpless plumber from his debts. Looks like the guy who was saving money to buy his own business can’t even take care of his own business.
If Joe Wurzelbacher were a true conservative Republican, he’d refuse to accept any welfare handouts and settle his debts through hard work but it seems Republicans have a double standard when it comes to liberals offering public assistance or Republicans like Joe the Plumber accepting handouts.
Let’s see how well this sits with the Americans that McCain and Palin say “identify” with Joe the Plumber and his struggles. For us here at TheAmericanLie, it’s just another slap in the face to all of us *real* hard-working Americans who will actually have to pay our taxes for real, not skip out on them and then let somebody else cover our lazy asses.
I don’t know what the Republicans are crying about? McCain is the one who dragged Joe Wurzelbacher into the public eye. Obama and McCain do photo opss with tons of people every day and none of them have been lambasted in the media like Wurzelbacher. That’s all because McCain and Palin made him a token for their campaing so the Republicans should only blame themselves but they’re too stupid to ever see that they are the culprit.
Did Obama twist Joe the Plumber’s arm into going on Katie Kouric or Mike Huckabee’s TV programs?
NO.
Joe could have avoided the media but the truth is that he wants his 15 minutes of fame and now he’s got it.
Joe, you are incredibly articulate and poised gentleman. I applaud your willingness to confront Obama and ask a meaningful question. I am truly sorry for the disrespectful attention you have received from the people in this country. I thank you also with all my heart for your service to this country. I am grateful each and every day for the men and women that voluntarily put their lives on the line so that we can sleep peacefully here at home.
Is anybody sick of this bullshit yet? All this Joe the Plumber debate is only detracting from the real issues here.
I don’t care if you’re a Republican or a Democrat. Let’s flush Joe the Plumber down the toilet already and get on with the real issues in this election.
